Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Mesa Refuge, a peaceful writers retreat in scenic Point Reyes. Check out these photos for some instant R & R.
One of the most challenging and creatively satisfying photo shoots I did recently was a portrait session involving three distinct looks. Each look had a different aesthetic, from the clothing, accessories, hair and makeup, to the mood.
The session was with one my favorite clients, Stephanie. This is her first look, which I called Goddess. The curls, neutral tones, and simple but flawless makeup were a perfect combination.

The more photography gigs I take on, the more in tune I become to not only my creative skills, but also my interests. A fast growing niche for me is health and fitness photography. I shot these photos for Keilani Pilates last fall.

And to book a private session or class with Melani, visit her website. She comes recommended from this fitness fan.
My recent monthly with Pulse Generator was a blast. Guest DJ Jonah Sharp had the dance floor packed and moving.

This portrait session was perfect – beautiful weather, easygoing model, and a smart city landscape. I had fun playing around with the colors of the clothing and the street art. It was difficult picking a few favorites to highlight, but here there are.

In December I was offered the special opportunity to photograph an event in honor of International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers at the Center for Sex and Culture. The event was a gathering of sex workers, their close friends and supporters; intimate and welcoming, a celebration and a memorial, laughter and crying. It was one of my favorite gigs in recent memory.
